Around the World in 49 Days
Jason and Shannon had the privilege and honor of being able to travel abroad for 7 weeks this summer after Lark Camp. They traveled to India, Istanbul, Italy, France, Amsterdam and England. Many friends were made, many teachers were met, and they managed to limit the instruments brought home to three. Shannon returned with her very own Darbuka and Jason came home with two sitars. The traditional one will remain in his personal collection, but the Rock and Roll Sitar (donated by our friend in Goa, Rocky) will be part of the library's collection.

Lark Camp 2016
Another incredible year at Lark was had this year. The library was a huge hit, and was filled at all hours with jam sessions, people hanging out, and even a few small performances. Not only was every instrument that was checked out returned, but we even left with more instruments than we came with. Thank you to our many donors! We are hoping to return next year and have even more success. Here's a photo from our first performance!

The Box Truck!
Jason has worked magic! In preparation for the library's inaugural year at Lark In the Morning Camp this summer, Jason has customized his box truck (to be used as a mobile library) to include a drop down stage for performances, workshops, jam sessions, etc. The stage opens from the side of the truck, operated by remote control and is completely powered by solar energy! We are so excited to bring this new venue with us to camp this year!

Jason Teaches "Sound is Vibration" at Oakland Elementary School
The library headed to Glenn View Elementary in Oakland to teach three classes (25 kids per class) about sound vibration. Bringing a digeridoo, a mandolin, hulusi gourd flute, a sitar and other instruments, the kids learned about how sound vibration changes the air around us, and how different shaped instruments make different sounds. The classes also had a hands on workshop building shoebox harps followed by a jam session.
